Benzac: Taking Back Control

Context & Challenge

Benzac was making a major strategic shift: moving their e-commerce activity away from D2C and over to major retail partners like Amazon, ASOS, and Superdrug. This meant switching off their site’s direct sales function entirely. The immediate hurdle was filling the void created by removing D2C. Without the ability to actually buy products on the site, we needed to give users a clear, compelling reason to still visit.

Connection

We pivoted the site's purpose, replatforming it into an educational destination. Our mobile-first design focused on surfacing in-depth content in a fun and informative way, helping users make sense of the product range and how different treatments work. The goal was to teach the truth about acne authentically and transparently—empowering teens to "cut the bullshit" and take back control of their skin. Once users engaged with the content, we provided seamless links to off-site buying options.

“To create a destination for current and potential Benzac users to explore the brand’s product range and learn the truth about acne and how to treat it in an authentic and transparent way, encouraging teens to cut the bullshit and take back control of their skin.”

Impact

By focusing on educational content, we successfully elevated Benzac’s positioning with their core Gen Z audience, turning digital experience into tangible brand action. The new site now serves as a powerful touchpoint for brand and product discovery. We also future-proofed the backend: our design approach makes it simple for users to filter and find new products, while moving to a Strapi CMS allowed us to set up bespoke, highly efficient management solutions for the Benzac team.
